Code-Collector Challenge

The Code-Collector Challenge was an interactive game franchise within the Screens Up app, where viewers could “catch” QR codes while enjoying their favorite Nickelodeon shows to find one of hundreds of collectibles, featuring characters and elements from the show. The collectibles appeared in five levels of rarity, with “mega legendary” the hardest to obtain. The linear enhancement spanned seven editions, including SpongeBob Code-Catcher Challenge, SpongeBob Code-Collector Hallowscream Edition, NFL Nick Play Code-Collector, SpongeBob Code-Collector Nickmas Edition, The Barbarian and the Troll Collector Quest, Kids’ Choice Code Collector, and SpongeBob Medal Mania.

Task

Create an engaging new way for viewers to interact with their favorite shows by gathering in-show collectibles while they watch

Role

Led UX and visual design from pitch to execution, overseeing wireframe development and collaborating with vendors and in-house engineers to ensure seamless QR code scanning functionality. Art directed a team responsible for all aspects of game visual design, including the logo, gameplay screens, micro-animations, promotional tiles, and collectibles. Coordinated closely with on-air, marketing, production, and product teams to successfully launch seven game executions.
