Patrick Star Show AR Campaign

In an effort to raise awareness for the series premiere of The Patrick Star Show during the summer months, Nickelodeon created a unique AR experience only accessible through the show poster. When users scanned a QR code and pointed their phones at the poster, the artwork came to life, showing Patrick’s hair and makeup getting done and unlocking a sneak peek video. Bill Fagerbakke, the voice of Patrick, was enlisted to do original voiceover, and we worked with the Nickelodeon Animation Studio to create a custom animation. In terms of execution, wild postings were strategically placed on streets across the top 25 markets, and custom ice cream trucks were branded with the AR poster, making stops around New York and Los Angeles. We further extended reach with an experience for fans outside of our key markets with a tap-to-place filter through Instagram’s AR platform.

Task

Create a memorable activation that would extended beyond traditional media to bring Patrick directly to fans in a new and exciting way

    Led visual design and user experience for the AR activation, overseeing wiresframes, prototypes, user interface design, and animation. Art directed in-house team responsible for Instagram filter design.
